LGTB COMMUNITY
The main thing that makes you feel especially unique in the Yumbo Centrum is the LGTB community, that with time has changed the centre into a meeting point for gays and lesbians from all over the world. And we affirm the word unique because very few places permits the mixture between gays and straight people to share with complete liberty, tolerance and respect, including events parties and fun.
Yumbo Centrum is proud of the LGTB and what represents.
This community started to get to Yumbo with organized structure in the period of the nineties, even though its presence was much previous. The crowd is majorly single men from age 25 until 44 years. First people to show up were the British then Germans.
Varying from all other countries that receive tourists in high season, Gran Canaria can receive tourists during the whole year because of the weather, and the special events that attracts gay tourists....
MASPALOMAS CARNIVAL
Every year between the end of February and the middle of March, Maspalomas gets a colorful exhibition to celebrate its famous carnivals. During the following weeks there are shows, festivals, floats and parties all over the place filling the roads with thousands of people in their carnival costumes and dancing to the latin beat making it a very contagious atmosphere for fun fun and liberty. Major events takes place on the main stage in the Yumbo Centrum. One of the most outrageous known shows is the drag queen night with international interests.
MASPALOMAS GAY PRIDE
Pride is celebrated every year during the second week of May drawing at least 100.000 LGTB people from all over the world. It is known as well for its fun and beach touch....... Moreover we highlight the fact the are so many pool parties that takes place in almost all gay accommodation bungalows and hotels and the big carnival taking place in the main avenure called Avenida de Tirajana
GERMAN CARNIVAL
La Cañada de la Penca, located in the sector 3 of the beach of Maspalomas is where on the 11th of November every year a celebration takes place with a large number of mainly German tourists. The celebrations start near the the nudist point of the beach at 11.11 hours, where everybody gathers from different German cities to organize the special day of their carnival.
